When Odessa Bowden-Sierra founded Nobody Jones in 2003, a local high-end fashion boutique, she wanted to cater to the people in her community, which is the greater Crenshaw area.

“I worked downtown, and I lived on Crenshaw and 54th,” she said.  “I thought it was such a cute area where I lived, and we really needed something.”

At the time Bowden-Sierra worked for a high-end fashion designer, Custo Barcelona, as a sales representative and showroom manager, and she felt that she could fill a gap that was missing in her neighborhood.

“I wanted to cater to my people, because we had nothing like this (high fashion) anywhere near our neighborhood,” she said.

The concept of Nobody Jones is pretty simple.  The boutique has high fashion inspired styles at affordable prices.  Bowden-Sierra makes some of the clothes, she purchases some wholesale, and there are designers who bring their products to her store.

“We always use the best quality fabrics from high end designers,” she said.  “And we’re able to still offer them at affordable prices.”

The store is known for jumpsuits, dresses, and separates.  More importantly, customer service is greater at a boutique like Nobody Jones than it is at a department store.

“With boutique shopping, you get a lot of things customized to you,” Bowden-Sierra said.  “I get to know my customers, and I’ve grown a lot with a lot of them.”

Bowden-Sierra is typically at the store, so she is able to personally interact with most of her customers, which can form a stronger bond, and allow her to know her customers’ tastes.  She caters to her customers’ needs by hand selecting all of the pieces in the shop.

The customer service coupled with the high end clothes at affordable prices has allowed Nobody Jones to build a strong following over the past 13 years.

“We have celebrity clientele, and our clientele comes from Leimert Park, Windsor Hills, View Park, Ladera, Inglewood, and even Gardena,” Bowden-Sierra said.

The loyal clients even followed Nobody Jones from the original store location on Crenshaw Blvd. and 54th Street to the current location at 5593 W. Pico Blvd., which is on the corner of Curson Ave, just east of Fairfax Ave.  Contact the store at (323) 291-7117, or visit their website at www.nobodyjones.la.  Follow the boutique on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
