The Los Angeles Standard Media Academy and the Black Los Angeles Photography Exhibit are a part of the foundation.
The Los Angeles Standard Newspaper Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which celebrates and promotes positive images of Black people in the greater Crenshaw district. The foundation also supports the efforts of the Los Angeles Standard Newspaper to produce positive stories about Black people, Black businesses, Black services, and Black events.
Through the foundation, the Los Angeles Standard Media Academy and the Black Los Angeles Photography Exhibit have been created, both of which are in Leimert Park at 2415 W. The Los Angeles Standard Media Academy

The media academy teaches content creation (writing, photography, and video). Those skills can be used for print and online media. Jason Lewis, the owner and publisher of the Los Angeles Standard Newspaper, and the president of the foundation, has taught youth photography classes at Inglewood High School and Westchester High School through a partnership with the Inglewood Pacific Chapter of the Links Inc. https://www.instagram.com/ipclinks/, at the Crenshaw Family YMCA https://www.ymcala.org/locations/crenshaw-family-ymca, and at the Children Youth and Family Collaborative https://cyfcla.org/. The free classes through the Los Angeles Standard Media Academy are in partnership with Los Angeles County’s Delete the Divide program https://www.deletethedivide.org/, which provides laptops for the classes.

Black Los Angeles Photography Exhibit
The photography exhibit, in partnership with Destination Crenshaw https://destinationcrenshaw.la/, features Black photographers, with an emphasis on photographers from Los Angeles. The first exhibit features five photographers. Each month there will be an open-to-the-public event where one of the photographers will have their own night to speak about their work. After all of the photographers have had a night, new photographers will be brought in to showcase their work.
