Uncovered Legacy podcast creator and host Curtis Burke has launched the fourth season of his podcast, which gives everyday people a platform where they can discuss their upbringing, life’s work, and their twists and turns through life.  Everybody has an interesting story to tell, and Burke gives them a platform to tell it.  <\/span><\/p>\n

This season features a diverse group of guests who have unique stories.  Three of those guests happen to be alumnus of Tennessee State University, which happens to be from where Burke graduated.  One of his guests, Fred Patterson, became a pilot at a time where there were not very many Black people in the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Tuskegee had a pilot program,” Burke said.  “If it wasn’t for that HBCU, because in the 1960s you weren’t allowed to go to predominantly White universities and institutions, but Tuskegee had that pilot program, he was able to take advantage of that, go into the military, and then he was able to fly for FedEx.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Burke interviewed local interior designer Tauska Trusaun-Kennedy, who builds ADUs and tiny homes in Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n

“That episode is a true journey through her life,” he said.  “We started off talking about how she lived with her grandmother, and her grandmother was a cook.  They lived with this rich family, and that’s where she fell in love with interior design.  It was her first exposure to see someone come in and redo an entire house.  She also spoke about her struggle with Christianity and how she became a Buddhist.  For her, with losing her only child, she had to find some type of peace within her to accept Buddhism for what it brought to her.”<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a common theme within each of Burke’s guests.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Everybody had an aha moment,” he said.  “It was kind of a sink-or-swim type of thing when you were at a critical place in your life, and because you made this one decision, it pivoted you in a different direction.  They all had something where they had to make a hard decision, and it really made them thrive, and it made them who they are today in a better way.<\/span><\/p>\n
