October camera club meeting recap
Photographer Alfred Haymond was the guest presenter at the October camera club meeting. Haymond has a knack for “finding those mundane occurrences happening all around us and visually preserving them.” The majority of the work that he presented was black and white photographs, which gave his work a classic and timeless feel to it. He showcased photographs of people candidly going about their day, and his architecture photography is amazing.

After Haymond’s presentation, the club reviewed the previous month’s assignment, which was food photography (link below). The group did extremely well following the composition rules that have been discussed in past meetings (negative space, filling the frame, and perspective).
November meeting
The November meeting is Tuesday, November 20, at the L.A. Alpha House, 3712 W. 54th Street. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30.
The guest presenter will be famed celebrity and event photographer Valerie Goodloe. Her work has been showcased in mainstream magazines, local newspapers, and she has been commissioned to shoot many celebrities (Will Smith, Kerry Washington, Quincy Jones, Spike Lee, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, Regina King, Baby Face, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Cuba Gooden Jr., Forest Whitaker, Brandy Norwood, and many more.)

Assignment for November

For November, there is an open assignment, where club members shot whatever they wanted to, and when the photos are presented, club members will point out which composition rules were used. Since this club began earlier this year, many club members have seen their photography work dramatically improve simply by following the composition rules.
If you did not have time to produce new work for this assignment, you can submit work that you recently produced.
