Amir Medina is 16-year-old sophomore at Connections Academy, an online school program. He has been an honor roll student and member of the National Honors Society. He is also a member of the Alpha Esquires, which is Alpha Phi Alpha, Beta Psi Lambda Chapter’s mentoring program.  He enjoys martial arts and playing the guitar.

Medina has loved the visual art of photography.  It started with his grandmother’s small digital camera where he learned that pictures hold moments that are important.  He attended City-Walk workshops in Santa Monica at the Lomography Store and has done workshops with Frank Alli (KABC-TV) covering the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Manhattan Beach. The Los Angeles Standard has engaged him in working on his goals to become a photojournalist since Medina loves being engaged with positive activities within his community.

Medina is planning to attend college with a photojournalism major and a minor in computer science.  His ultimate goal is to become a cinematographer.
